In 2021, I’m crossing the U.S. on a scooter.

True story.

It’s all about the planet.

I’m **Alex Simon.**
On April 24, 2021, I’ll start **crossing 3,365 miles** of America’s backroads - from **Boston to Newport, Oregon** - **on an electric scooter**.
Why?

**My father was a prominent agronomist** who spent his life advocating the protection of the environment.

When **he passed away in November 2020**, I realized that my own efforts in saving the planet had been...well...underwhelming.

I needed to do better. I wanted to do better.

So I decided to **continue his legacy** in the best way I know how: by **combining adventure and eco-activism.**

And I **wanted to honor him by doing** **something big.** Something **truly impactful.**

That’s when **“Scoot America”** was born.
The trip has one major purpose: **let people know about the benefits of** **electric “micromobiles”.**
What are micromobiles? Think transportation that is small, electric and that can be used to replace cars on short trips: **electric scooters, eBikes and eSkateboards.**
With 50% of all car trips ranging 3 miles or less, micromobiles could easily alleviate a ton of traffic and reduce carbon emission.
The chosen **route is Historic U.S. Route 20 - the longest road in America at 3,365 miles** of backroads through “Small-Town America.”
